About us
What is the 'Ma'di Lini'
Ma'di Lini, loosely translated as "Ma'di learn", is a grassroots initative created due to the lack of print and digital Ma'di resources. The aim is to create resources so future generations can learn the Ma'di language, culture and traditions.
This project was started by young Ma’di people in the diaspora, guided by community members and existing resources.
It’s a living project that will continue to grow, so we welcome feedback, ideas, and contributions from the wider Ma’di community via email.
Our mission is:
- Learn: Many Ma’di families in the diaspora live where the language isn’t commonly spoken, making it hard for younger generations to learn. We’re creating easy-to-access resources to help keep the language, culture, and traditions alive.
- Preserve: The Ma’di people have long preserved their culture through oral storytelling. But with communities scattered across the world, the tradition is harder to maintain. By digitising language and cultural resources, we aim to preserve the Ma’di heritage for the future.
- Connect: Kinship is at the heart of Ma’di culture. Our goal is to keep communities connected to each other and to their roots, no matter where they live.
